I will attempt to compile wvware WORD to html convertor, which is
command-line and is said to be what Abiword uses. It can sometimes handle

of all three. Is there a linux rtftotext or rtftohtml?

Interesting, I had not seen wvware for DOS, yet. Could you make it
available somehow? What I use to convert rtf (with non-English text):

Doug Kaufmann compiled it and sent me a copy when I asked for a better way to view WORD files. I also use antiword. Check his site and if it is not there I will ask his permission to share wvware. He probably does not have the latest version as this was a few years ago.

- rtf2html version 1.1 beta
- catdoc 0.93
- unrtf

I just realized yesterday that catdoc (for linux only?) also does rtf, when looking through your mutt config files. Are the others available for both linux and DOS?

I have a very old rtf to text program for DOS (DOX or RAX?) that does no formatting at all, and a 'VIEW' program that does rtf, various wordprocessor formats (WP, WORD - no upper ASCII at all, just ????), html, rather basic but handy for a first try. Shareware (DOS). It also converts UNIX <> ASCII format (useful if you have downloaded a UNIX file that you are trying to edit in DOS).

I would trust most catdoc, but it does not keep any formatting
information.

That would be a problem for me, since people sometimes send me forms that I am supposed to fill out and return. Usually these are in WORD (or pdf).
I will try Abiword on them next time this happens. It will work on our two newest laptop computers which do lots of colors.
