Thank you for the input. I'm very happy that AbiWord
is working so nicely. Most people would be very
surprised to see what we have running in 20mb.
Even an old Slackware (with no GUI, no networking,
no browser, no mail, no manpages) can't fit in 20mb.

I am no expert in fonts; however, I did notice that the
installed fonts contain many, many non-English characters.
Umlauts, accents and other strange characters. I assume
that by using different character codes, you will get
those characters. Is is possible that your ISO-8859-2
characters are already inside the AbiWord fonts? Those
fonts files are very big.
If the characters you need aren't already inside the AbiWord
fonts, then you may be able to install your own fonts. There
is a FAQ/Help page somewhere about adding your own fonts to
AbiWord.

The fonts look fine to me, but I'm no expert. BTW, the FAQ/
Help page includes instructions for installing TrueType fonts.
Cheers,
Steven
