I have to agree, here ,that the BL2 is probably the way to go; that way
you can pull a SCSI-aware kernel from the Slackware 7.1 CD.

You'll also more than likely need a driver module for the controller,
not for the drive. I have used SCSI CD-ROM and HD before, with
BasicLinux 1.7, and the troubles that I had were all related to getting
the right module for the SCSI host adaptor (controller). Once I had
that, there were no troubles with needing to load the right disk or
other drivers.

Haven't used a Future Domain controller w/Linux myself, so I'm not sure
what's available on the Slackware CDs. I've been using a combination
of Adaptec (best supported) and NEC-based controllers.
