BasicLinux defaults to Linux keybindings. However, it appears
that your server does not have Linux listed in its termcap.

That indicates your server does have vt100 listed.
It probably has others as well.

The backspace/DEL issue is well-known. The treatment of
those keybindings varies between term types. You may be
able to fix this by editing the ~/.inputrc (on the server).

If telnet is not doing what you want, you might try ssh
(if your server is capable). The ssh client for BL3 is
available from the add-on page.
