To be specific to the drives and what the BL kernel sees on boot-up, try
this:

dmesg |grep -i hd
-----------------------------------
or
___________________________
dmesg |grep -i ide
-------------------------
or to see everything the kernel sees
_________________________
dmesg |more
----------------------------
