Since I can't compile on the computer where I upgraded and then downgraded
glibcso I attempted to upgrade both glibcso and glibc and therefore
needed to transfer glibc via parallel cable and plip.

I had just transfered a file from computer A to computer B, and took
computer B to computer C to do a file transfer. I got tired of my
dyslexic partner nagging me to 'save time' by making the sequences a
script so I made two scripts for each computer, in /usr/sbin, one for
sending and one for receiving with numbers reversed.

I started them with #!/bin/sh and then the five relevant lines.
They did not work. nc : no connect. Would not ping either.

I tried the other parallel port on one computer (I have two). I changed
the IRQ number on the first port. Nothing helped.

I then tried to transfer from B to D, both with only one parport, and that
would not work either.

I finally as a last resort tried typing out all the commands, line by
line, copying from the script which I put on the screen, and then it
transferred just fine except for a lot of receive timeouts (going from the
133 to the 166 - why the timeouts and what is the name of the program used
to compare original and copy to make sure they are the same?).

Did I make this script wrong? It looks like other scripts that did work.
I had made scripts before but deleted them when they did not work, and
that is probably why plip often did not work for me before.

Is it sufficient to upgrade only glibc and glibcso or do I also need to
upgrade binutils, gcc, gmake, and linuxinc? If nobody knows, I will
experiment. Nothing much to lose as I can't compile now anyway.
