The pppd from BL2 (version 2.3) which you compiled for kernel 2.2.16 and
glibc6 does not work with BL1 (glibc5) and the BL2 kernel, not
surprisingly. I substituted it for the pppd of BL1 and it gave me a
failure message without even making dialing noises first like I got when
using the older pppd with the later kernel. I presume the newer pppd
needs to be compiled to work with the older glibc5 for BL3.

Naybe in the meantime someone else can confirm that lynx which I compiled
loads but accesses only local html in BL1 with the original kernel.
