I red the discussion between James Miller and Steven (May 19, 2003) concerning root/user. Clearly, it would be wise to browse the net as a regular user, not as root. However, if I log in as "user" instead of "root" then X looks awful (as if X starts without icewm?) and I can't start my browser. Any suggestions how to solve this problem? Nomdo

This is most likely a problem with the .xinitrc file for your user. Compare it to the file for root, to see what the defaults.
Also how are you starting X? IF you are using "startx", it will look at the .xinitrc file in the users home directory, this file can edited to start X as you want.
