I recently installed BL2 on an old notebook I had laying around. I'm
getting things set up as I want them now, for the most part successfully.
One problem I'm having though has got me a bit mystified (not all that
hard to do). I've installed X and it seems to be working ok (I'd like
better video quality - I may post some more particulars on that later).
Anyway, the problem I'm confronting now is that, with X running, I can't
open any xterm. When I try to, there is simply no response from the
machine: no windows open, and no error is reported under X. However, when
I do ctrl-alt-Fx (to whatever virtual console I've opened X under) and
look at the text output underlying X, I see the message "Fatal server
error: Server is already active for display 0". X continues to run fine,
btw. So, it seems that what is happening is that the computer is reading
the attempt to open an xterm as an attempt to start a new instance of the
xserver. At least this is how I interpret it. Anyone have an idea what
could be causing this problem and how to resolve it so that I can,
finally, open xterms under X?

Thanks, James
