I attempted, as 'user', to use Kermit and was not allowed to access the
modem. I could not get the ppp dialler to work either. I tried setting
permissions and various other things suggested by other people, all of
whom told me it was a very bad thing to be root all the time, and
eventually gave up and I am still root all the time.
Is there some easy way to get the modem to work for 'user'? If I run the
risk of some javascript invasion using Opera as root, I will try to use it
as user instead.
