This is a follow-up to some messages I posted yesterday on a
different thread about the Delilinux packages I found on an ftp server
that seemed like they should be compatible with BL2. As you may recall,
Delilinux is another lightweight Slack variant (based on 7.1) geared
toward older hardware.

I installed some packages (.tgz files) on my BL2 machine last night and
they worked fine. Most notably, a pretty recent version of Dillo can be
gotten there (7.0). Since I understood that Dillo requires GTK libraries,
I also downloaded and installed a GTK package from that ftp server. Dillo
was under 200kb, and the GTK stuff about 1.5MB. Anyway, Dillo runs great
on my BL2 test machine (486 DX2 66, 20MB [30 pin simm] RAM) - by far the
best performance of any of the graphical browsers I've tried there.
Problem is, it doesn't do certain things other browsers do and that folks
have come to expect of a browser. It also mangles some pages (Zdnet
news page, NYTimes page - on the latter of which it even displayed an
error message indicating that the page was written inviolation of a
certain html standard).

I installed zgv from there but have yet to get it working: it requires
some configuring. I just saw Howard's message indicating that some
additional files are required as well, which I doubt I have on my system.
Any further tips on getting zgv working would be appreciated.

There's also a lightweight mail client (masqmail) there that looks
interesting. I tried installing it, but got a dependency problem.

Anyway, it's looking like the Delilinux ftp server could be a great source
of additional packages/binaries for BL2 users. Have you looked at it,
Steven?

James
