- Subject: [BL] BL 1.10 alpha RAMDISK
- Date: Sun, 4 May 2003 16:50:53 +0200
I updated BL 1.8 RAMDISK version to Slack 3.9, added smc-ultra
driver,
hda[9-12], hdb9 entries in /dev; subdirs 01,02,03 in /mnt for
easy mounting, and followed directory structure from BL 2.02.
Old: Busybox 0.60.0, nc, emailSMTP, links.
And I am disappointed:
1. df reports:
750 kb for original BL 1.8
410 kb for updated BL 1.8 :(
410kb after `strip --strip-all *` (except bash), pico and init
taken from BL 1.8.
2. gzipped BASLINUX file is 1.7MB large (a little larger thab
this from BL 2.02!), so you have to use 2m to fit it
on a floppy :(
Another question has arisen:
What machine is target for BL 1.x branch?
1. if PC with 4MB RAM, I will switch to Slack 3.9, as
HDD installation is required,
2. if PC with 8MB RAM, 410kb may be not enough free space for users.
But if you have 8MB RAM, you should use Bl 2.x which is much better
than BL 1.x
All your opinions are welcomed.
Chris
