Dear Antonio,

The legend on the coin is pure Greek, which is English would be "Arsinoe (of)
Philadelphos". Ptolemy II "Philadelphos" ("brother-loving") of Egypt had two
wives named Arsinoe, one of whom was also his sister.

The reason that many of the Greek letters are similar to paleo-Hebrew
letters, is that the Greek alphabet (aleph-bet) was adopted from the
Phoenicians, whose script was the same Canaanite alphabet also used by
Hebrew. Look at any book or encyclopedia entry about the development of the
alphabet.

As far as "hidden meanings" behind the Hebrew letters, this is one very basic
facet of Kabbalah, Jewish mysticism. Similar beliefs exist in other cultures.
A fascinating topic, but not appropriate for B-Hebrew.

Dear Fred:

This Hebrew alphabet has been confused by historians, so that the Hebrew
language remains hidden. Transcription does not provide information if not
known the values of the signs, their transliteration.

In my arxive you can see the Hebrew text "zobrstdnyb" and "mjopymqd." There
is a special sign, the nun like Latin capital M, which contains in its first
triangle a Daleth, making it a monogram daleth-nun.

I'm no expert, but the beginning, "z_obr" indicates that the coin is
Hebrew.
I'd like your opinion on the Hebrew legend.

Regards, Antonio García Hurtado.
