The idea that the biblical compilers had access to and could even decipher
Assyrian cuneiform vassal texts from the 7th century BCE is a theory without
any direct evidence to support it. Weinfeld's work on Deuteronomy still
represents the thinking from over 40 years ago. Don't tell any of the
Copenhagens that Deuteronomy was composed in the 7th century.
