Of course, as I've stated previously, the verbal plurality function of the Piel I take as one of its functions, with a resultative/ causative/estimative function of (generally) stative verbs being its other main function, as Jenni and others have shown.
Regards,
David Kummerow.
The qal, hifil, and piel themes are also used as denominatives. Jenni and Ryder seem to disagree as to whether the piel as a denominative functions the same as it does when a factitive. Stuart Creason in his U Chicago dissertation _Semantic classes of Hebrew verbs_ deals with the denominative function briefly, but his focus is more on the relationship of the stems themselves. Do you know of any study that compares qal, piel, and hifil denominatives, either for Hebrew or Semitic in general, to see if there is any rhyme or reason for which types of noun prefer a certain binyan?

Does anyone have a list of all the Hebrew verbs and the binyamim in which
they are found in Tanakh? I thought I had one, but I can't find it right off
hand. I want to compare (again) the different contexts of those verbs that
are found in Qal, Piel and Hiphil, (all three) and then maybe go from there.
As for the function of the Piel, I have a hard time buying that it is
intensification of action, also this pluralization is a little hard to
swallow. That's why I request that if anyone has a list of verbs and the
binyamim in which they are found, could you please pass me a copy.
I buy the concept that it is a stative use of the verb, emphasizing either
the subject (actor) or object (acted upon) more than the action itself.
Further I can see it as making a verb out of a noun. But the intensification
right now for me is a no starter and the pluralization shaky at best.
