Chris:

This is just one more example of how Biblical Hebrew and modern English
differ.

Hebrew used a participle with a personal pronoun suffix to indicate a
person doing something for or to the person indicated in the suffix.
But to indicate the same idea in English requires a phrase such as
"Those who (verb) for (suffix) ...", so here we deal not with the
meaning in Hebrew, but with the art of translation.

Hi All,

In Genesis 12:3, M:BFR:KEYKA, appears to be often translated as "those who
bless you".

However, all I see is a participle form of BRK with a possessive 2ms suffix.

What is the correct parsing and why is it translated as "those who bless
you"?

Thanks,

Chris Gummer.
