Joel:

It is a good thing that you label this One Scholar's Opinion, as there
are good reasons to disagree with most of his claims.

On 7/2/06, Joel Stucki <joel AT stucki.ws> wrote:

that if the creation account really did speak of creation from nothing
(ex nihilo) then it could be argued that the text was very late since
these ideas developed around second century CE. Largely out of Greek
philosophy.

That date is clearly wrong, as the book of Hebrews was written in the
mid first century, and merely repeated cosmological beliefs that were
common among Jews from before.

... (Your understanding of the text)

So the two creation accounts focus on different things and clearly
contradict each other in order of creation. But both focus on a
lifeless world existing before God decides to make it into our world.

The two accounts contradict each other only when you force them into
the procrustean bed of your ideology.

From a literary and linguistic analysis, they don't contradict, though
they focus on different aspects of creation.

Even the narration division is wrong, as Genesis 2:4 is the closing
verse of narration one, not the start of narration two, according to
ancient literary practice.

...

Everyone have a good fourth.

You too.
