- Subject: [b-hebrew] Joseph: Israel - Hyksos - Egypt

Karl,
Assuming that Moses actually did write the Pentateuch all
by himself and assuming that the kings in question were
Hyksos then the answer is:
Since the Pentateuch ends with Moses death on the far side
of the river Jordon, Moses would have had to have written
it, or at least finished writing it, after the entire
generation who left Egypt and knew slavery was dead. Moses
wrote not for those freed from slavery but for all future
generations, including us.
Strangely enough, this pretty much the same answer even if
one believes that the Pentateuch was not written by Moses
and the story is more appropriately set in the New Kingdom.
