How do you know that the Englich "charm" here means "magic stone"? As for

The English word "charm", when used as a count noun, as here (at least in NIV) because it is preceded by "a", always has magical connotations. The other, non-magical sense of "charm" as a noun, as in "She had such charm" meaning "She was so charming", cannot be preceded by "a".
