Hello,

I'm new to the list - am looking for information re: lining my fishpond. Three meters deep, with an approx diameter of 20 meters. Measures are VERY approximate. The slope of the pond is such that you can walk down the sides, but not very comfortably.

I've heard of using pig manure which is either "tamped" in (like as one tamps a dirt floor - I think this is the word) or burned. Tamping is do-able, although it doesn't sound like much fun. Burning would seem like a pretty huge bonfire, lots of wasted energy and more warming than we need. Anybody have an idea of how much of a layer of pig manure would be ideal?

I've also heard of using ash as a liner, but don't know how that would work.

Any other ideas? A place for me to start looking? I've done some searching on the internet but haven't found anything on natural liners.

We definitely need something, We had enough rainfall to fill up the pond several times but it leaked out immediately.

Thanks,
