One thing I've though of to help using the wiki to record
decisions etc
I've created a wiki page

where we can record decisions about various aspects.

This is OK by me, *and* I'd like to have one page per topic/decision.

I guess this is what you mean:
http://www.ibiblio.org/ecolandtech/pcwiki/index.php/Decision%20pages
Discussion About Names here takes you to:

WikiSyntax for creating a new wikipage = First letter of each word in caps,
multiple words run together w/o spaces.
Or place wikiword in brackets [], caps or not.

Especially if we have some list dialog

Can be pasted into wikipages or just link to appropriate message in the
archives.

or wiki-local comments on the topics.
Put the question/decision up top and conversation after.
IMO clearer and simpler and easier to find the question one wishes to
respond to. The scrolling scrolling scrolling down thing gets old fast...

So it it to be a plant db

or mainly a plant db with lots of other related PC info

or a broad spectrum permaculture database

or will there be a plant db, a guild db and a general pc db

With an object DB we can create and query any kine object we want. Plants
are top of the list at present as I understand it, but not a limitation.

But is a comprehensive permaculture database the goal of this project?
Stephanie?

Why not pcdb or permacultureDB?

OpenPermaculture-something-or-other sounds good to me.

The little logo at the top of the opening pcwiki page says that the wiki is
the
Open Permaculture Project Online. Open Permaculture Database might be better.
That would make a nice domain too, http://openpermaculturedatabase.org
or http://openpermaculturedb.org; I like the former even though it is long.
The infamous pc acronym is thus avoided.

IMO the abbrev. 'pc' has too many other meanings - politically correct,
personal computer to name just two biggies that most people think it
means.

'db' I think we're ok with... :-)

Question:
:::::::::

Should this pcplantdb mailing list allow public access to its message
archives? Currently it does not.
Subscriptions also have to be approved. Do you all want me to post new
subscription requests to the list for discussion and group approval?
- usually I just approve all who apply.
