Good point, Allan. What I thought of when I read the suggestion was how much
more work this would be- explaining the concept, record keeping, sorting and
labeling... If anyone tries this I would like to suggest that you add enough
to
your prices to pay you for all this extra work.

If a lot of this is done as volunteer work by some customers, there's another
job- training and coordinating volunteers. Easier to herd cats.

I say all this as one who operated a CSA (I now sell at markets and on farm)
and
coordinated the work of 1,200 members in the operation of a storefront food
co-op.

What (small) farmers need is a way of maximizing price for farm goods with the
least amount of time and expense spent marketing. With the low food prices in
the US, it's the only way we can keep running our farms as income producing
businesses.
