Esther,

I've had several friends who've had Laser eye correction surgery. As I understand, the risks include "starring" in your night vision, clouds, scarring (if you get an infection, especially), etc.  The more severe the necessary correction, the greater the risk.  Since it's still your own eyes, if they are changing with age, even if lasik corrects you to "bifocal" normal for now, your eyes will keep changing and you'll still have to wear reading glasses at some point. I think it gets "sold" as a miracle cure, but the reality isn't so miraculous. Something like 20% of people get some kind of side effect from the surgery, and plenty of people still have to wear glasses afterward.

All said, I'm staying with glasses. Isn't it hip to be a geekgirl with glasses?
