Hi Sindi,
Actually, the IBM ThinkPad 500 is a pretty unique little machine. It is
the predecessor of the 500 series, the first practical sub-notebook in the

impossible; install a more modern OS. More importantly, I want for it to
have network capabilities. Did manage that once, with Windows 95, but aside
from the machine I'm on, trying to stay away from Microsoft's products.

Do you have a non-cardbus pcmcia network card?

Currently, the 500 runs BL great on the command line. I'll be doing a
standard install of BasicLinux and changing to the alternate X server.
Thanks for all,

What do you want to use it for?
You can use it as a terminal with a wireless card (airo or orinoco).

There are small linuxes specifically for networking.
