Liz,

If you wanted her to marry a particular guy it would be

va'abaqqesh lah 'et ha'ish vehi' lo' haytah lo

Hi Liz,

Does this have the classical sound?

va'abaqqesh lah 'ish vehi' lo' haytah lo

Translated literally, "And I sought for her a man, but she became not his."

Shalom,
Bryan

Dear All,
I've started to study modern Hebrew
(I"m going to be teaching at the Rothberg School in
Jerusalem this fall.)
In modern Hebrew to say "I wanted her to marry him,
but she didn't," you have to say "I wanted that she will
marry him, but she did not marry him."
How would you say this in BH? I can't think of an example.
Thanks.
Liz

Liz, are you looking to marry a Jewish man and you just want to propose in
Hebrew?

;-)
