And don't forget about Hell or High Water at 1 PM!
This week on HOHW, Gina B will be playing the 1997 Thrush Records release Mahk Jchi by Ulali. Ulali is a three-woman acapella group that creates music with Native American and indigenous roots, including southeast choral singing (pre-blues and gospel) and pre-Colombian (before the borders) music. They're known especially for their unusual harmonies and politically-charged lyrics. They also had an artist residency in Greensboro in 2002, so that's cool, and they have a song on the Smoke Signals soundtrack which is in Gina's Netflix queue and she plans on watching it someday, she swears. Anyway, listen in! And here's a link to a song from the release she'll be playing (it's called "Necklace of Broken Hearts" and it's awesome): http://youtu.be/lDZZtqQH1-0.
