Afraid you’ll melt this July?  Tune into WXYC! Look:

Friday Night at 9 PM on the Inside Track you can hear Graduation from Henry Flynt. Recorded between ’75 an ’79, Graduation was intended to be the debut of the Greensboro native’s avant-garde approach to the folk music of his native state.

Start off Sunday with OCS at 10am with the Orange County Special, our weekly specialty show featuring the finest folk, traditional and neo-traditional music the station has to offer.

Hear about some local issues Sunday at 5 PM on WXYC Reports.  This week: Day to Day: The Informalization of Labor. Join us as we look at a variety of common labor practices, from freelancing to day laborers to adjunct professorships, in order to try and find commonalities between temporary workers across diverse fields.

This week on the Backyard Barbecue at 8 PM Harrison will be hosting Brice Randall Bickford. Bickford, who stopped using the moniker "the Strugglers" in 2011, writes sparse alt- folk music roughly in the vein of Will Oldham. Part of his brilliance consists in his ability to develop stark lyrical portraits that explore deeply personal situations without losing sight of the universal. In a phrase, his songs are patiently beautiful- they unfold gradually and subtly but nonetheless have a way of sticking around in your mind for the long haul.

From 9-10PM tune in to hear new Sports Rap co-hosts Reilly F and Sarah H do their first full show together.  They'll be talking to WXYC Music Director Joe W about how much he looks like NC State Point Guard Tyler Lewis and the film White Men Can't Jump.  Then former Music Director Andy S will be on to talk about the ESPY awards and the pilot episode of the ABC series Coach.  And if you haven't already, be sure to find Sports Rap on Twitter (@dunksbutts)!

Then Monday has the Outside Track at 9 PM.  This week you’ll hear the new release Voices by Kink Gong put out by Discrepant. Laurent Jenneau has been recording the music of mostly endangered South East Asian minorities since the late ‘90s. Voices is based on vocal recordings from southern China and northern Vietmam and Laos, and accompanied by computer modifications, sound collage, and field recordings.
