MARLIN WALLACE, "The Corillions" on the Inside Track, Wednesday 9 p.m.
A left-field country-Western songwriter from Columbus, MO, Marlin
Wallace released a series of private press records in the late '70s and
early '80s that have lately been hot on the "outsider
music" market. Rasslin Records has re-released the most in-demand of
these, a 1982 session that sounds straight out of Nashville. Listen in to
hear such topics as the voyage of Columbus, a steel-fisted snow yeti, and
the age of the dinosaurs
portrayed delightfully in song.

LONDON SONGS on the Thursday Night Feature, Thursday
9 p.m.-midnight
This week, we'll feature songs paying tribute to the fair city of London,
branching out to songs about England and maybe the rest of Great Britain
as well. Aside from the obvious Clash and Jam classics, you will be graced
with the likes of the Vibrators, Billy Nichols and more.

MOKIRA, "Plee" on the Inside Track, Friday 9 p.m.
Stockholm, Sweden's Andreas Tilliander, a.k.a. Mokira, artfully mixes
glitchy electronic minimalism with elements of hip-hop and R&B. "Plee" is
his third release, on Mille Plateaux records. Look for Mokira live at
Local 506, 506 W. Franklin St. in Chapel Hill, on Monday, July 15.

HELL OR HIGH WATER, Sunday 1-2 p.m.
This week, host Steve of UNC's Southern Folklife Collection will present
an assortment of bluegrass and oldtime entitled "DJ Where Art
Thou ... Oh, Brother."

DR. HAJIME MUROOKA, "Lullaby from the Womb" on the Classic Inside Track,
Sunday 2-3 p.m.
This album may be the first classic you ever heard! Dr. Hajime
Murooka's 1974 release "Lullaby From The Womb." Developed from
earsplitting research on 403 sobbing babies, this pacifying blend of
circulatory sounds from a pregnant woman and soothing classical
favorites by Schumann, Bach, and Tchaikovsky sold well enough to
receive the attrention and praise of Newsweek Magazine. Raymond Scott
eat your heart out!

Timely topics with TODD & BILL on Northern Hemisphere Live, Sunday 5-7 pm.
This Sunday NHL's Todd and Bill will host an open show with sundry topics
relating to the current events of the day. Listeners are invited to call
in and participate.

THE MAYFLIES USA on the Backyard BBQ, Sunday 7-8 p.m.
Indie power-pop pros the Mayflies USA will be live in the studio this
Sunday, having just returned from their first-ever Left Coast tour. The
Mayflies' new CD "Walking in a Straight Line" (their third
full-length) was recorded and produced by Keith Cleversly (Flaming
Lips) in Chicago. Look out for their official CD release party at Cat's
Cradle Saturday, July 20.

Various Artists, "CATFISH BLUES: Mississippi Blues, Vol. 3 1936-1942" on
the Inside Track, Monday 9 p.m.
The UK's Document Record presents a collection of vintage Delta blues. The
star of the show is Robert Petway, the original composer and performer of
"Catfish Blues," a song that went on to achieve classic status at the
hands of Muddy Waters and Jimi Hendrix. Also featured are Mississippi
Matilda and Sonny Boy Nelson.
