ELVIS COSTELLO on the Thursday Night Feature, Thursday 9
p.m.-midnight
This week the Thursday Night Feature is devoted to Elvis Costello,
the Angry Young Man. This TNF will explore the first decade of Costello's
songwriting, from the late '70s to late '80s.

CLAWHAMMER BANJO on Hell or High Water, Sunday 1-2 p.m.
This week's Hell or High Water will explore old-time banjo playing in the
"clawhammer" or "frailing" style. This style, quite different from
bluegrass fingerpicking, developed in the mountains of Virginia and West
Virginia and focuses on rhythmic strumming. We'll hear from some of the
prominent artists in the genre, as well as field recordings.

MAURICE RAVEL on the Classic Inside Track, Sunday 2-3 p.m.
This week's Classic Inside Track will feature two Maurice Ravel
compositions (Konzert fur Klavier und Orchester G-dur and Gaspard de la
nuit) as interpreted by pianist Martha Argerich of the Berlin
Philharmonic. Long celebrated for his rich poignant melodies, Ravel was
also a pioneer who developed the technique of stacking partials which laid
the foundation for modern electronic music.

A discussion of UNC TUITION AND PARKING ISSUES on Northern Hemisphere
Live, Sunday 5-7 pm.
This week, host Yonni will lead a discussion of UNC-CH's proposed tuition
increase and the planned decrease in on-campus parking for students. Guests
