Hello folks!

It is tough to stay cool, but I hope your coping! (Or co-oping, even better!)

Thanks to our friend, Katie at Tecolote Farms, I was reminded to tell all of you about the great local produce that we're carrying right now!

Look for some of the finest tomatoes around from Tecolote Farms. In addition to local, they're organic, too!
We've got organic Herbs and Heirloom Squash from our pals at Onion Creek Farms
The fine folks at Hairston Creek Farms are providing us some very delicious organic yellow onions and okra.
Montesino Farms
are providing us with organic eggplant and organic green bell peppers!

From away but still delightful...

We've got Organic Red and Green grapes on sale for $3/ lb!
We also have luscious Organic Strawberries, Blackberries and Raspberries!
The Texas Hill Country peaches are winding down, so get them while you can!
We do have organic white peaches, nectarines and plums from California and they have been quite good.
The Organic Sweet Corn is not to be missed! Needs no butter or margarine!

Cheese
We are pleased to introduce a new fresh pasta in our cheese case from the excellent pasta purveyors at Pasta & Company. It's gotten excellent rave reviews and is at an excellent (in fact, AMAZING) price! It's about as local as you can get, as it comes from over on Kerbey Lane! We've got linguine, rigatoni, rotelle, fettucine and spaghetti!

Deli
We mistakenly printed a note in the Breeze that my wife, Rosie thought Wheatsville's Thai Iced Coffee was the best in town and, while it MAY be the best in town, Rosie can not say that for certain as she is vegan and the Thai Iced Coffee is not...
She will however, emphatically state again for the record, that "Wheatsville's Iced Coffee is the best in town!"
(Sorry for the mix-up, my dear.)

I am a fan of Wheatsville's Iced Black Tea. It's organic and tastes like tea should with no unnecessary fruity flavors like you get at some places...

I am going to plug Wheatsville's smoothies again. A lot of smoothie operators in town use ice to fill out their smoothies, but not us! We use all fruit and juice in our smoothies, so you're getting pure taste and nutrition! Our Acai smoothies are very popular! Read the article in the latest Wheatsville Breeze to learn more about this amazing fruit and then come in and try it!

The nice folks at the Austinist
http://tinyurl.com/hn9og plugged our vegetarian Frito Pies last week! They were right to do so, I think. If you haven't tried one, you may want to consider it. Here is what they had to say
"Attention area stomachs: Let’s get ready to rumble. A visit to the soon-to-expand Wheatsville Food Co-Op reminded us that Wheatsville is ground zero for delicious vegetarian Frito-pies. One visit to their deli counter in the back will remind you how you used to let your freak flag fly back in the day, as well as ensure instant sensory gratification in the form of beans, onions, fritos, and the rest of the ingredients in their gastronomically sound veggie Frito-pie."

Seafood
Bryan, our meat and seafood guy has been doing a great job of bringing in sustainably fished seafood. Right now we have a good selection for you to choose from.
Look for Wild LIne caught Ahi Tuna, Wild HAND-CAUGHT Mahi Mahi, and Wild-caught Alaskan Coho Salmon from the nice folks at the family fishery, Troller Point in Alaska.

We are interested in your feedback on our meat and seafood selection and we want to provide the products that you are looking for. Please feel free to e-mail Bryan at bbutler AT wheatsville.coop or talk to him in the store about what you'd like to see!

Co-op Advantage Deals are in full swing download the flyer here http://tinyurl.com/jz587 or pick one up in the store. There are some cool recipes inside!

At the end of the e-mail, you can find a recipe for Chef Keem's Quick and Easy "Single Guy" dinner from www.banderagrassland.com
Have a great week and weekend!
Dan
Wheatsville GM and e-mail guy!
