I definitely think this could be useful. By using a compressed filesystem
you get the same space savings, but the ISO boots as a normal SMGL system,
with the usual directory structure that can contain the spells you want
included in the /var/spool/sorcery directory. If you then mirror this
directory to a user's hard drive, it would be the same as decompressing the
huge image.tar.bz2 to an empty partition.

In thinking about replacing the installation ISO with a compressed
filesystem, I think the easiest way to get the same thing would be to
decompress the image.tar.bz2 to an empty directory on your hard drive, then
use the LiveCD technique to convert that directory to a compressed filesystem
on the ISO. The only problem I can foresee is keeping things you only want
on the ISO only off the user's hard drive, but I'm pretty sure this can be
achieved rather easily.

Let me know if I can assist you with this... I have a personal interest in
improving my LiveCD (like using pivot_root instead of "mount --bind"),
adapting it for use in the installation ISO and having a 2.6 installation ISO
for my laptop as I had indicated. :)
