Yes, Eric. I think you hit the nail on the head.
I don't think anyone is advocating switcing the spell format. I enjoy it's
simplicity. The main discussion is back end scripts.
And may I ask - Who will be the people having to work with this code?

That being said... I am not advocating switching to perl. In fact (as I've
said before). I think it would be in our best interest to either stay
with bash (completely re-designed) or write everything in C :)
No dependencies that way...
More realistically though, bash and perl are the two contestants, and
given the choice, I am beginning to lean tword staying with bash...
