We need a new java spell, maybe?

LFS has a good hint on building it from scratch,

I haven't tried it because I havent' even got caught up with what I am supposed to be doing. Maybe you have the time?

As Ted wrote, you need a working java in order to build java from the
source...
I did it before with gcc3.1 and it worked great (including the mozilla
plugins!!!). However now, since my java is not working (the same error
Ted described), I can't rebuild with 3.2...

The link describes the process.

I quote:
The JDK has a circular dependency and hence requires a Java compiler to compile some parts for bootstrapping. You can install the JDK in a non-standard location for compiling the SDK and then delete it. Also, it needs a 1.4 version JDK according to Sun's website. If you don't want to install the jdk permenantly, I have included instructions on how to install it for the duration of the compilation.
