I suppose one other way I could put this is, part of a spell's "physical
existence" is the line in the codex.index file that says where it is.
In other words the spell was not completely removed, it was partially
removed. Put it another way, if you add a spell but dont add an entry
to codex.index, the spell doesnt completely exist. You have to add or
remove lines from that file in addition to creating or removing (or renaming)
a spell's directory. It just so happens that we've automated that whole
process with scribe reindex.

The same line of reasoning would apply if say you removed
the spells BUILD file, the spell would still start casting but cast
wouldnt know that it was supposed to have a BUILD file, and would
possibly do the wrong thing. You can't partially remove a spell and
expect it to still work.
