We don't /technically/ provide pre-compiled binaries, but as you say, Gentoo likely don't, either, so why don't we submit Source Mage anyway? (Even if Gentoo do make binaries, I believe most users would still compile.) I would, but I'm too busy to look at kde.org.
When I submit SMGL for those lists I've only noticed them saying "The following packages are available" and I *assumed* that meant that one may install that program via the "normal" process for said distribution, not that there is a pre-built binary for it. :)
