I also think we should replace the main ones with minimal. IMHO the list and
checkbox menus in sorcery's arch optim section should offer only the basics,
users can use the custom fields for additional stuff.

Testing on one box doesn't of course tell much. But if this flag is included
or omitted in -march depending on the architecture, doesn't that mean that we
should trust the gcc folk and not enforce it?

Sounds like the upstream defaults and the examples you mentioned favor also
not enforcing this flag.

About the stable update: One way of making sure that smgl-archspecs is cast
before other stuff is to make all spells in basesystem depend on it. But if
users do a simple `sorcery system-update`, there's no way to prompt them to
check their settings.
