As another follow-up, on two systems where I had the exact same problem
with some spells (same problem as kdeaddons), they'd both been changed
from xfree86 to xorg.

Unfortunately, cleanse, nor some recent updates in cast (or the sorcery
libs) has any idea how to deal with that.

cleanse doesn't give you the option of fixing a dependency. Using
"cleans --prune doit" doesn't give you enough options for each spell
that complains about needing X. I don't want to re-cast each spell, I
don't want to dispel the spell, nor do I want cleanse to just ignore the
situation because it obviously breaks things elsewhere.

So, rather than do anything special on the 2nd system I found this
problem on, I just removed all the lines in the
/var/state/sorcery/depends file with xfree86 as a dependancy in them.
Voila, kdeaddons compiled.

Methinks either cleanse needs to do more and become worthy of it's name
;-) or cast should not just drop out because it has some weird
dependancy tree issue.... or, both.
