Well, I've already done that twice in the last two days, so oh, well.

Options like what? Options to ./configure? host.def? I never use any
options to ./configure, so that is the same. The first X compile I didn't
change the host.def. The second time I went in and enabled stuff I usually
do, like the fonts server and nv support. None of that has changed
anything.

The last few lines refer to file descriptor 9, but there no open for
that file descriptor in the chunk you sent. Perhaps finding out what
that FD refers to will help you narrow down the problem.
