That was it. It probably was about the time of the glibc update that
mine quit working also. I updated all the pan dependencies to what was
in devel (I had been tracking test.) and it works great now. Here are
the numbers:
atk 1.0.3
glib2 2.0.7
gtk+2 2.0.7
libxml2 2.4.26
pango 1.0.5
I did this on two different systems. The oldest and one that I
installed from the beta 2 iso. Might want to update these in test, if
there aren't any big problems. Other wise the pan2 spell will be broke.

I've been running my own spell for Pan > 11.4 since August, and right
when
devel went to glibc 2.3.1 is when it started segfaulting for me. The
ruckus
with scrollkeeper, libpng, et. al. has kept me from properly rebuilding
gnome stuff to troubleshoot it. Only Friday when the gnome stuff went to
2.0.7 did it start working again, to my delight.
pan2 seems to work as well. I've attached the compile log of my
successful
build. Diff them and see what you can see.
