This gave me a very interesting idea for documentation.

What if we were to start a "timeline" of sorcery and grimoire versions, and then parallel that timeline with a series of commands neccessary to get from any one point to the present.... updating as commands become invalid and workarounds neccessary.

Could be cool.

i've been thinking about something like this. not so involved, simply how to get to current from any ISO (with the addition of lockexec this is no longer a straightforward matter, esp. for those who aren't on the list or don't IRC). in addition, i've been thinking about some type of simple SOS database. it would be searchable, contain a couple of fields for things like app, spell, problem, etc. when someone encounters a problem they turn there first. if someone figures out their own (or someone else's) problem they go there and add it . we had something like this when i was doing lotus notes development and it was invaluable; any problem only has to be solved once, right?

I believe this is an old bug that has been fixed in the current version of
sorcery (0.8.2). You seem to be having quite a number of problems which may
all be related to the fact that you have an older or corrupt installation of
sorcery.

Thanks to Arwed who privatly mailed me a sequence of commands that fixed
it. Sorcery is up-to-date, and my kernel is recompiling, with
preemption. Next stop: xfree86 and system-update :)
