I think it would be useful to place this note at
http://www.sourcemage.org/resources/lists/

What you are seeing are mailman's bounces. I'm seeing them in the logs
and they look like this.
Aug 04 23:32:00 2002 (11318) sm-spell-submit: Mailcmd rejected
Subject: Returned mail: see transcript for details
From: Mail Delivery Subsystem
<MAILER-DAEMON AT happyhouse.metalab.unc.edu> Reason: Probable
bounced subscribe-confirmation
the lists are operating properly, i've checked the aliases. make sure
you are giving the list an address you are able to reply as and recieve
mail from when signing for a list. This should take care of the issue.

I am bcc-ing the ibiblio people on this. Hopefully the fact that several
people are getting issues will make them reconsider the issue.

i had the same problem, reported it many times <yells> but no one
seems to listen </yells> i got on the list by sending the reply to
sm-spell-submit-admin instead of sm-spell-submit-request (isnt that
intuitive?)

I recently tried to join the spell-submit mailing list and recievedthe email for confirmation. Unfortunately, replying to
sm-discuss-request AT lists.ibiblio.orgdockapp that has a bunch of monitors, but it has yet to show up in
to finalize the subscription bounced with the following message:
sm-spell-submit-request AT lists.ibiblio.org
SMTP error from remote mailer after RCPT
TO:<sm-spell-submit-request AT lists.ibiblio.org>:
host lists.ibiblio.org [152.2.210.119]: 550 5.1.1
<sm-spell-submit-request AT lists.ibiblio.org>... User unknown
I also had submitted a spell for allin1, a WindowMaker/FluxBox
the archive even though it was submitted almost 24 hrs ago.
Any thoughts? Is there just something I'm missing?
Rog
I just tried Andrew's method (-admin instead of -request) and I received a
message saying that I am now subscribed to sm-spell-submit. Yeah! :)
