For all of you struggling with the java plugin for mozilla under gcc3,
the following link has a detailed explanation for compiling java sources
with gcc3 to get the plugin working. You need to register with sun in
order to download the sources, so this cannot be casted as a spell, but
at least it is a solution.

The only thing I needed to do was to add some symlinks between programs
in /bin and /usr/bin, since there are some assumptions in the sources
about the locations of touch, cpio and some other stuff. It worked with
no problems after the 3rd attempt :)
The same page has a detailed explanation (and a patch) for compiling
openoffice, but I haven't tried that yet.
