Well, I guess my friend who came up this this won't be happy over anything
that's not vim for him.
We have choice of TEXT-EDITOR in basesystem... all we need is a way to tell
the chosen one that it should install to /bin (and to /usr/bin if it is cast
on another occasion...).
Perhaps e3 is a sensible default, but I've never used it and as a sysadmin I
don't want to learn another editor (or learn how to make it similar to some
editor I know) when I have to quickly hack some init script so that my
important workstation works again.

I'd go for most tested and most portable here instead of insanely optimized
for x86.
