Where do we go from here ?

I don't know how to solve this particular problem at this stage, but here's a general idea. We make a CONFIGURE which asks if anybody wants version 1, defaulting to version 2 of course. We research if versions 1 and 2 can live together and make two spells. In short, we solve the problem on the tech level. Do you think anybody would use SMGL if apps couldn't run? I have proprietary stuff running, I'm sure many others have it. I also have the need to run Apache 2.1 branch, everyone can see I'm twisting spells to make this happen, but whenever I brake something for Apache 2.0 I have to fix it. The same with proprietary apps: we break them, users go away.
I don't know if that was Lyon's reason for going, as a guru he had a lot of influence in this process. If it was the reason, I hope it wasn't the only one, otherwise it's just silly and quite uncharacteristic of Lyon.

Sergey.
