Here's info on the Russian Strain from one of my herbals: "The problem is two-fold: firstly there are two "comfreys" and reference to them is often casual. Regular, common, medicinal comfrey is Symphytum officinale. Russian comfrey, the great compost heap maker, is Symphytum x uplandicum"
The russian is supposedly even more productive than the conventional comfrey. I want the comfrey for compost and for forage/fodder, so I'm seeking the Russian. Unfortunately, I don't know right off how to tell the two apart. (!) _Allan
