It is all in how you frame your view of the world. The permaculture lens is
always ready for you to use to synchronize your
most positive experiences in this world with the vast libraries of
information it provides and take you to another plane of existence.
It provides focus, not limitations. I really like Mollison's statement that
the only limitation to a permaculture design is the imagination of the
designer.
Then comes the workload, made easier by your knowing you are on the best
path possible as you travel along the paths of the natural world.
Seriously though, consider a site design task, look through the lens of
permaculture and your mind will be filled with possibilities that tap the
most advanced
knowledge that science and technology has to offer. At ground level
everything we have learned in our lifetimes, applied selectively, is
useful. Like biofeedback our ideas cycle in and out of a permaculture
design in progress,
some gaining momentum, some fading, some becoming more prominent,
progressing through the design process in synergy with arrays of
possibilities, merging and synchronizing until it all comes together. This
is how I see PC design.
Steve: I intend to reply to your recent post, about your work in Europe
with emerging PC groups and community projects. I remember seeing your
pictures of the sewage treatment project in a greenhouse with a pyramid.
Is the plant still in operation? I follow the Balkan Ecology Project in
Facebook and enjoy reading about their market gardening projects and site
development.
One thing I have learned is that a shovel is a more powerful tool than a
tractor; you go much slower and much more carefully. I know from
experience. Another principle is to tread as lightly on the land as is
humanly possible. I know about this too. Buy some land; don't drive on it
except on the road to the homestead. Walk only where you have work to do;
leave the rest untouched.
