Great news, great subject, long long overdue IMO. I have assisted in
developing the same energy in Europe as an outcome of the highly valuable
series of 7 europe wide conferences "EPT", ( www.permateachers.eu ). As
one outcome we have created "The Permaculture College of Europe (
www.permaculturecollege.eu ) with the aim of servicing all these needs that
Scott elaborates, and more. But especially of developing greater
collaboration of all Permaculture providers across the entirety of europe's
50 countries. It will be a gradual process and very worthwhile building on.
Scott, as an addition to your list I would like to add that every course
be it a PDC or any other advanced course have a fully detailed "Course
Handbook" which is a text of all the topics of the course in brief. Robyn
Francis again, offers this, and is very valuable for all parties. She has
set the bar on this. It also goes a long way to raising the standards. What
the UK PC Assoc have developed is also valuable in that an accreditation
system exists. This again helps raise the standards, not only for all
centrally involved but as a recognition also from outside interests, like
the mainstream education entities. Something some of us are learning that
is more valuable than detrimental. PCofE is already in discussion with a
number of universities across europe with very strong and positive interest
in collaboration. Of course any Permaculture debate has pros and cons. It
would be great to hear all varying opinion. Which, will obviously go a long
way to strengthening what we all want..Steve Hart
