thanks, Hannah. this look slike a nice start!
i'd just like to remind the list that i'm looking at public perceptions of
using animals to manage public open spaces instead of, or in addition to,
conventional "mechanical mouths." this includes first hand accounts,
journal and periodical articles, and health codes and municipal laws.

all the talk about gear and techniques is fascinating, but is ancillary to
my research topic. there's a good body of literature about how to handle
animals in this way, but not much of a qualitative treatment on how the
people coexisting with these animals feel about it.
