'Homo' to the best of my experience here in the UK, is generally thrown about as a homophobic term of insult, generally by people who are a bit ignorant and don't know any better.

here's a song by my friends Chumbawamba that might provide a little food for thought:

HOMOPHOBIA

Up behind the bus-stop in the toilets off the street
There are traces of a killing on the floor beneath your feet
Mixed up with the piss and beer are bloodstains on the floor
From the boy who got his head kicked in a night or two before

Homophobia
The worst disease
You cant love who you want to love in times like these

In the pubs, clubs and burgerbars breeding pens for pigs
Alcohol, testosterons and ignorance and fist
Packs of hunting animals roam across the town
They find an easy victim and they punch him to the ground

Homophobia
The worst disease
You cant love who you want to love in times like these

The siren of the ambulance the deadpan of the cops
Chalk to mark the outline where the boy first dropped
Beware the holy trinity - church and state and law
For every death the virus gets more deadly then before

Homophobia
The worst disease
You cant love who you want to love in times like these

Seriously, someone calls someone else a homo and the first thing people think of is homo sapien!?
Huh!
When someone calls ME a homo that's not what I think. I must have missed some huge cultural shift that took place when I wasn't looking. I don't watch television so maybe that's it.
Weird....or at least queer. =-O

I assumed he meant homo sapien. It was a little shocking at first glance, though. ;-)

While I agree with your recommendations, and although I suspect him of being a closet case, many excellent gay folk would not like to be lumped in the same category with this bozo (my apologies to any clowns on the list) ;-) .
