For those in need of a reliable email client and free email account I
reccomend the combination:

Gmail, courtesy of Google
after creating your Gmail account go to setitings > forwarding & POP >

disable forwarding = yes

Enable POP for all mail (even mail that's already been downloaded)
-or-
Enable POP only for mail that arrives from now on

When messages are accessed with POP: keep Gmail's copy in Inbox, archive
it or delete it

Foxmail
English version downloadable from:
http://www.foxmail4u.goracer.de/download/
Foxmail 5.0.800 englisch 3.8 MB Foxmail 5.0.800 englisch
(originales exe-setup)
Foxmail 5.0.800 englisch 3.2 MB Foxmail 5.0.800 englisch (ZIP)
A simple but effective email client (with many intresting features not found in other clients and missing a few important ones).

After creating and configuring Gmail account unzip Foxmail into a folder such
as:
c:\program files\Foxmail
create a shortcut of Foxmail executable (Foxmail.exe) for desktop
run and configure Foxmail:
- create your new email account(s) in Foxmail: they will contain your Gmail
login name(s)@gmail.com and your password(s)
- create a folder for the email accounts and their respective mail folders
somewhere like:
- c:\Gmail-Foxmail-mail-accounts and point Firefox to that location to store
all email and folders
- send email to yourself at Gmail then Check for new mail to receive it

Takes no time setting up the client and the email account & they work
flawlessly when set up according to directions.
I'd advise creating topical email folders and incoming mail filters to transfer new mail into them to save work later sorting out mail in your inbox.
